The architecture of the Grange highlights the wild charm of the site. Located at the top of a ridge and bordered by the surrounding forest, this prestigious two-storey cottage offers a breathtaking view of the St. Lawrence River.
Inspired by the traditional regional barn, this familiar shape is here entirely covered with vertical metal siding. Three volumetric cut-outs generate the entrance and the two terrace areas. These recesses in the main volume are accentuated by a wooden covering evoking the protective bark of the tree.
The cottage takes root in the basement, whose wood and concrete walls delimit the playroom and the children's dormitory. On the ground floor, the entrance, entirely covered in wood, opens onto 4 large luxurious bedrooms, each equipped with a full bathroom. The staircase, a kind of aerial spine, leads to the living spaces that overlook the forest and the surrounding area. From the inside, the windows accurately frame the landscape, mountains, and some more mature trees.
The common area upstairs is very friendly and bright. White cedar, which covers the walls and ceilings abundantly, colors the light. The mirror effect of the radiant concrete floor reflects the daylight and projects the eye to the outside. The numerous windows open onto an almost panoramic view of the landscape and the surrounding forest. The impressive cathedral ceiling and the fireplace carefully placed at the center of this free plan unify the various activity areas — reading, cooking, talking, eating, etc. At nightfall, the warmth of the fireplace and the dim lights obscure the ceilings and create a warm and mysterious atmosphere that evokes the Quebec evenings of yesteryear.
The photos with the mention “Hameau l Common Area” are photos of the common pavilion that you have free access to by renting this chalet. You have access to a swimming pool and a tennis-basketball court. You will have to reserve time slots for the private lounges and the tennis court. No reservation is required for swimming. Bookings are made directly on site.
